Team Waterpolo

Team Waterpolo

Preston’s electro pop magicians Team Waterpolo return with a new single in August in the shape of ‘Letting Go’, and with that in mind, Vagabond had a quick chat with FemaleFirst's local lads.

Hello there Team Waterpolo, what are you up to?

Just chillin’ on a barge in sunny Glossop!

So, you’re getting ready to release your new single, Letting Go, on August 24… can you tell us a bit about it?

Well fundamentally it's a love song, directed at most women who have been in love. The message behind the song is when you find love sometimes you just have to let it go for it to be real and if it was meant to be it will always come back. Nahhh not really, it’s a feel-good pop song with an infectious melody. Oh yeahhh!

Your previous single, Room 44, was a belter – infectious, melodic and alien-filled, plus it came complete with an entertainingly ‘claustrophobic’ video. Do you think you can replicate this with the new record?

We will never replicate this because we like to be very different with each and every song we write, different vibes different feel different meanings, but by God is it infectious!

There is a lot of competition in the business today. Who do you see as your main rivals and do you think you have what it takes to give the big names a run for their money?

Main rivals, hmmm nobody because we are very unique. We will give the big shots a run for their money sure! Then we will take all their money and share it with the less fortunate!

So, if you could recommend just one song of yours for us to download so that we want to hear all of your music, what would it be?

Hmmm tricky, not all our songs are downloadable as yet. But if you had to download one, I would say download any one. Then download another and listen to the contrast and superior greatness behind the melodic mayhem we deliver.

If we were contemplating coming to your show or sitting at home and watching Big Brother, what would you say to us to persuade us to get out of the house?

Our shows are massive parties where everyone has a great time, gets down and dances, chills and floats on clouds of poptastic delights. You will also find love at all our shows, either with a band member, another fan, or just our music. Love, love, love. Makes the world go round.

We’ve got to admit you’re a little bit cool, so what advice would you give to someone just starting out, knowing what you know now?

ENJOY IT! Don't take yourselves too seriously and whatever you do just make sure you're having fun! If it doesn't go well try, try, try again, never give up and practice safe sex.

So, if Team Waterpolo was an acronym what would each letter stand for?

T – Tantalizingly
E – Energetic
A – Abnormal
M – Mentalists
W – Which
A – Always
T – Try
E – Everything
R – Randomly
P - Ping Ponging
O - Ostrich's
L – Lovingly
O - Over Open Octopus Ovaries

If you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Well we would all listen to different CDs and trade to keep it interesting, but if we all had to listen to one single CD it would have to be the a mp3 disc of every soundtrack by Sir John Williams, the great.

Okay, now we want to ask you some random questions:

Fire away…

Tell us about the most terrifying experience of your life…

We don't get scared, but if there was one time we maybe sweated a little bit it was probably the time when we fell into the shark tank at feeding time at World of Water The Real Sea Life Experience. Luckily we are all athlete swimmers and the sharks could not get us in time. Rub-a-dub-dub!

What’s the most stupid purchase you’ve ever made?

Tents for festivals, we always leave them behind.

Why go to the top of a tall building, only to put money in binoculars and look at things on the ground?

Because people get a great buzz from being above everyone else and looking down on them to say I am in authority, bow down to me, I am lord of the castle and you are my minions.
