The Fray - By Mark Forrer

The Fray - By Mark Forrer

After being wowed out of my brain at The Fray’s Manchester show on Friday, I have to admit, I was more than just a little excited to interview them and ask all the questions I want answering… sadly though Isaac Slade didn’t seem to share in enthusiasm.

Hello there pretties, how are you enjoying being in the UK?

Hey! Yeah, we’re loving it actually. We’re just getting settled in I think this is my seventh or eighth time here.

I came to see you on Friday!

No way, how was that?

It was amazing, loves it! So, what’s been your favourite UK show to date?

One of the memorable shows was in Glasgow when we played the Corn Exchange. That was the firs time we’d played there and it was crazy, the farther North you go, the crazier the people seem to be.

Okay, so you have a new self-titled album out, what’s the reaction been like?

It’s good, it’s weird to talk about our own record but it’s being doing well and it’s getting played all over the world so it’s great. It’s weird to be able to find people that are responding to it when they speak other languages.

We are proper 100% loving it so can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind it…

I don’t know, as you look across the songs there are some ideas you can really see, it was just tension and it cost a little more than we thought it was going to cost, be we still like it.

If you were going to give us just one song of yours to listen to so that you would become our new favourite band, what would it be?

Happiness.

Is that your favourite?

Yeah, I think so.

And if you could cover another band’s song, what would it be?

Lets say, Song 2 by Blur.

Oh, good choice! Have you heard the A Day To Remember cover of Cable Car?

Yeah! Haha, I have! [FF: They’re my favourite band!] Haha, they were great then!

And can you sum up your good selves in just five words?

Epic, Honest, Young, Ironic and Cultured?

Aww, that’s a good mixture, we like it! And what makes you stand out from the crowd?

I don’t know, I think we just try to write songs that we like and they’re true to who we are.

What three bands would you have to headline your dream festival?

I would get Smashing Pumpkins, Counting Crows and Fleetwood Mac.

Ah, classic, and what has been your favourite musical memory to date?

We did a gig in Disneyworld in front of the castle at midnight for a load of high school students graduating… we got to stand on the platform?

Did you get to meet the Disney characters?

Yeah, we got to meet them all!

If all of the bands equipment was on fire, what one piece would you save and why?

Well, I cant really save my piano because it’s too big so I’ll let that go! I’d probably grab one of the guitars because they’re fifty years old.

Aww, that’s very considerate, we ask everyone we interview to come up with a question for the next person we interview and Blazin Squad want to know if you’ve heard their new single?

Hahahaha! No, but I love the shameless self promotion, I will go and check it out!

So can you come up with a question for the next person I interview?

Yeah, ask if they’d ‘Do it for free?’
