Birkhead And Smith Conceived Baby On New Year's Eve.... Celebrity photographer Larry Birkhead insists he and former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith conceived his daughter Dannielynn on New Year's Eve 2006.Birkhead was in Las Vegas to ring in the New Year and says the date will always be special to him because that's when his daughter was created.He is currently involved in a bitter paternity battle with the reality TV star, who claims the baby's father is actually her lawyer and companion Howard K Stern.Birkhead says, "I've always maintained from day one I was Dannielynn's father. My little baby was actually conceived last New Year's Eve."A judge has ordered that Smith submit the baby for Dna testing no later than 23 January (07) and there is apparently some good will remaining between the former couple. Birkhead adds, "I've talked to her a couple of times. I sent Christmas presents to the baby and she called and said thank you and said they were pretty."* Dion To Close A New Day In December Celine Dion is planning a Christmas 2007 farewell to Las Vegas after announcing she'll bring the curtain down on her hit A New Day show on 15 December (07).The Canadian singer has been performing to packed houses at the Colosseum theatre - a venue specially built to house her show - since March 2003.In a statement released yesterday (04Jan07), Dion said, "I know this will be the best year yet."

Dion initially signed a three-year, $100 million (£51.3 million) contract to perform the show at Caesars, but extended it through to the end of 2007.

Producers claim as many as 2.5 million people have seen the show since it opened. A New Day will be filmed later this month (Jan07) for a TV special and Dvd.

Dion plans to mark the final year of the show with new costumes and by changing aspects of her performance.
