Adele vs Arctic Monkeys in Independent Music Awards

Adele will go head-to-head with the Arctic Monkeys and Friendly Fire at the upcoming Independent Music Awards after landing two top nominations.

The British singer's record 21 has been tipped for the Best Difficult Second Album, alongside Bon Iver's self titled disc, Fleet Foxes' Helplessness Blue, Pala by Friendly Fires and Toddla T's Watch Me Dance.

She's also received a nod in the PPL Award for Most Played Independent Artist, where she'll face off with the Arctic Monkey's Vampire Weekend and The XX.

The Horrors have been nominated in the Independent Breakthrough of the Year section, as have metal group Bring Me The Horizon.

Bjork will receive the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the Association of Indepent Music's inaugral ceremony in London on 10 November.
