Black Sabbath rocker Tony Iommi is at odd’s with concert giant Live Nation amid accusations that the concert promoter is selling band merchandise without his permission.
The lawsuit, which was filed on Tuesday at Manhattan Federal Court, alleges that he originally had a deal with Live Nation that they could sell Black Sabbath branded goods; but it expired back in 2006.
Regardless of the expiration, live Nation have continued to sell the merch without Tony and friends’ permission; illegally gaining profits they don’t have the right to sell.
But don’t expect Ozzy to come out wielding bats head and the like in order to settle the dispute; Iommi claims his former bandmates (Geezer Butler, Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward) signed over to him the rights to Black Sabbath and its likeness when they quit.
Talk about credit crunch.
