Mojo Awards Recognize 'Inspirational' Blur

Reunited rockers Blur have been honored with the Inspiration Award at music magazine Mojo's Honors List prizegiving in London.

The band's original line-up of Graham Coxon, Damon Albarn, Alex James and Dave Rowntree collected the accolade on Thursday (11Jun09) in recognition of their influence on modern British music.

The group is due to perform a set of highly anticipated comeback gigs in the British capital next month (Jul09) - almost 10 years after they last took the stage together.

They'll also perform at the upcoming Glastonbury festival in southern England.

John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono was also praised for her contributions to music as she picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Mojo event.

Magazine editor Phil Alexander, who hosted the prizegiving, said the 76year old "helped change music as we know it in her own right, first, by introducing avant-garde sensibilities to her husband, but, just as significantly, by continuing to push the boundaries of what was deemed the normway after that".

Fleet Foxes were also winners, taking home the Best Live Act statue. The he U.S. rockers lost out on the Song Of The Year category to Elbow, whose anthem One Day Like This was the favorite of Mojo readers.
