Reunited British rockers Blur completed their comeback with a stunning performance to close the U.K.'s legendary Glastonbury festival on Sunday night (28Jun09).

The Britpop pioneers announced their return to the music scene in December (08), after a six-year hiatus.

They played a string of intimate warm-up shows earlier this month (Jun09) - and sealed their return to the top with a crowd-pleasing headline slot at Glastonbury on Sunday.

It's got to be one of the greatest gigs of their career, surely. What a moment. I'm privileged to have been here and had the joy of watching that

Singer Damon Albarn was mobbed by snappers and festival-goers at the start of the band's set when he leaped into the pit in front of the stage.

He later led the crowd on a sing along to Blur's 1999 hit Tender and closing song The Universal.

Bbc presenter Jo Whiley said, "It's got to be one of the greatest gigs of their career, surely. What a moment. I'm privileged to have been here and had the joy of watching that".

Blur are due to play two huge outdoor gigs at London's Hyde Park next month (Jul09).
