Bobby Brown is the latest celebrity victim of an online death hoax - the star's rep has been forced to confirm he is alive and well following a spate of rumours suggesting he had died.

Fake stories of Brown's demise began circulating on social-networking website Twitter.com this week but a spokesman for the New Edition singer has now come forward to silence the gossip, telling TVGuide.com the rumours are not true.

Brown is the latest in a long line of stars who have been targeted by online pranksters - Johnny Depp, Zach Braff and Bill Cosby have all been victims of false death reports in the last few months.
