Britney Spears Day

Britney Spears is to be recognised by an official day in her name in San Francisco, California. Officials have declared that today, Tuesday, March 29, will be Britney Spears Day across the city.

The pop star, who performed a free show in San Francisco at the weekend, releases her new album, Femme Fatale, in the United States today.

The album was released in the UK on Monday and has received generally positive reviews across the globe. 

Spears' free concert was taped and will air as part of a Good Morning America TV Special.

Britney seems to have as much love for the famous city by the bay as its local officials have for her.

Following her show, she tweeted: "Just wrapped GMA. I love love love you San Francisco! -Britney."
