Alleged Dion Home Intruder Undergoes Mental Evaluation

A man arrested for allegedly breaking into Celine Dion's home in Montreal, Canada has undergone a mental evaluation after making suicidal commentswhile in custody.

Daniel Bedard is accused of trespassing on the star's property on Monday afternoon (05Sep11).

Cops found the intruder running a bath for himself and eating pastry hefound in the superstar's refrigerator.

Police spokeswoman Nathalie Laurin reveals 36-year-old Bedard claimed he was a family friend of Dion and her husband Rene Angelil, who were out of the city with their three children at the time of the incident.

He was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, auto theft and causing property damage, and arraigned on Tuesday (06Sep11).

He was also taken to a hospital to ensure he was not a danger to himself after police became concerned about his worrying ramblings.

He was subsequently released.

Bedard is due back in court on 21 November (11).
