Cheryl Cole fans all over the country will be happy to learn that the stunning singer is going to be free from her loverat husband once and for all by the end of today as the pair take it to High Court.

The couple top the list of splits scheduled for this morning with Cheryl citing unreasonable behaviour on Ashley's part as the reason for the split. The process to formally dissolve the pair's shattered four-year marriage took place at 10am today and it is thought they have a decree nisi now,

The pair must then endure a six-week cooling-off period before the decree absolute will be granted - leaving no legal connection between the stars.

Cheryl's legal team first sent papers to Cole last May and filed for divorce, which Ashley responded to immediately - accepting his infidelity had wrecked the marriage. The process stalled after Cheryl caught malaria in July and did not request the decree nisi.

When she was back to full health she ordered her legal team to "get things moving" as a priority and a request was made to the High Court to have the couple's names removed from legal papers in a bid to avoid publicity.

The case is referred to only under their initials - reading CAC v AC - but tops today's list of 29 divorces at the court.
