Former lovers Rihanna and Chris Brown are looking to have a court-imposed protection order banning the pair from contacting one another lifted - because they want to work on their friendship.
A Los Angeles Supreme Court judge sentenced Brown to community service and probation on Monday (22Jun09) after he pleaded guilty to assaulting the Umbrella hitmaker following an altercation in February (09) that left Rihanna battered and bruised.
The Kiss Kiss singer was also told he must stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna and keep a distance of 10 yards from her if they attend the same event.
However, the insider insists the stars are not interested in reviving their romance That's 100 per cent done
But the stars are reportedly keen to have the ban removed because they consider it "unnecessary" - and have already broken the order by patchingthings up over the phone.
A source close to the pair tells the New York Daily News, "They think it's unnecessary and ridiculous.
"After (the court proceeding) Ri and Chris talked on the phone for almost an hour and really worked at becoming friends. They're solid now".
However, the insider insists the stars are not interested in reviving their romance
"That's 100 per cent done. They aren't looking to hook backup again. They're both moving on and going their separate ways".
The former couple reunited briefly following their pre-Grammy fight, but split soon afterwards. Rihanna has since been romantically linked to rising rapper Drake.
