Delta Goodrem Hinders Grand Prix

Delta Goodrem sent the organisers of the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix into a panicked overdrive on Sunday when she pulled out of a performance of her homeland's National Anthem at the last minute.

Melbourne Grand Prix bosses had just five hours to find a replacement when Goodrem told them she wouldn't be singing because of a sore throat following a concert the night before.

The singer's fiance, Brian McFadden, told race organisers she had suddenly lost her voice: "She is not feeling well and is sick in bed." And her manager Jo Grogan told the Melbourne Herald Sun newspaper the singer was so sick she had been forced to call a doctor to her bedside.

Grogan says, "Delta is very upset, she is absolutely distraught. I think this is the first time she has ever had to cancel a performance." Soul singer Jade McCrae stepped in as a last-minute replacement.

The big race, won by Brit Jenson Button, was the world's first twilight Grand Prix.
