Demi Lovato in self harm scandal

Many young girls idolise people like Demi Lovato, but having her as your rold model could prove dangerous at the moment after the star has been accused of self harming.

Demi herself is keen to deny the rumours however, despite being photographed with scar-like marks on her wrist at Miley Cyrus' sweet sixteenth birthday party at Disneyland in October.

A photo of the Camp Rock singer with what appeared to be red scratches on her inner wrist emerged on Thursday, prompting worried fans to flock to the Internet to investigate the matter.

Within hours the search terms "Demi Lovato" and "cutter" had racked up to 65,000 results on Google, reports the New York Daily News website.

But the 16-year-old's rep is adamant the marks are not the result of self-injury, but instead "indentations" made from tight plastic bracelets Lovato wore earlier in the day.

Spokesperson Lillian Matulic says, "These allegations are completely false".
