British electro-pop pioneers Depeche Mode were forced to scrap a gig in Athens, Greece on Tuesday (12May09) after frontman David Gahan was taken ill just before showtime.
Gahan was struck down with a bout of stomach flu gastroenteritis while preparing for the show in his dressing room.
He is currently under the care of medics in a nearby clinic, according to reports.
We regret today's performance has to be cancelled... David Gahan fell ill in his dressing room
A concert organiser addressed the 30,000-strong crowd at the city's Terra Vibe park, telling them, "We regret today's performance has to be cancelled... David Gahan fell ill in his dressing room".
It is a blow to the band's global Tour of The Universe trek, which kicked-off in Israel on Sunday (10:May:09).
The group are hoping to reschedule their Athens concert for Wednesday (13:May:09) if Gahan is well enough to perform.
