Coldplay and Elbow have walked away with the top song honours at this year's (09) Ivor Novello Awards in Britain.
Coldplay scooped Best Selling British Song for Viva La Vida at the prestigious ceremony in London on Thursday (21May09), while Elbow won Best Contemporary Song for Grounds For Divorce, as well as Best Song Musically and Lyrically for One Day Like This.
The Best Album accolade went to The Ting Tings for their record We Started Nothing, and Welsh soul singer Duffy landed the Most Performed Work honour for hit track Mercy.
Songwriter of the year went to Eg White, who penned Will Young's Leave Right Now and Adele's Chasing Pavements, while Massive Attack received the Contribution To British Music award.
