Songwriter Aaron Schroeder, the man who wrote Elvis Presley's hit It's Now Or Never, has died.
The 84 year old passed away on Tuesday (01Dec09) after battling a rare form of dementia similar to Alzheimer's disease, according to his spokesperson Dale Olson.
Schroeder wrote over 2,000 songs, including 17 songs for Presley - fiveof which shot to number one.
His best-known track, It's Now or Never, was the King's best-selling international single.
He is also credited with helping launch the careers of Randy Newman, Jimi Hendrix and Barry White as a record producer, as well as writing the theme song for Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! His compositions were recorded by artists including The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Art Garfunkel and Nat King Cole, amongothers.
Schroeder is survived by his wife Abby and daughter Rachel.
Memorial services will be held on 7 December (09) in New York City.
