Garth Brooks is set to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame later this year (12).
The two-time Grammy Award winner, singer Connie Smith and session musician Hargus 'Pig' Robbins will make up the class of 2012.
I am astounded and honoured to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Brooks will be celebrated in the Modern Era Artist category, Smith will round out the Veterans Era Artist category and Robbins, who has worked with Bob Dylan and Loretta Lynn, will be feted in the Recording andor Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980 category.
And Friends in Low Places hitmaker Brooks couldn't be more thrilled.
He says, "I am astounded and honoured to be in the Country Music Hall of fame.
"At the same time, I can't help but feel guilty going in when there are so many deserving artists that came before me who are yet to be inducted".
This year's additions will increase membership within the prestigious organisation to 118.
