Country star George Jones has cancelled his upcoming tour of Canada as hebattles back to health following his recent hospitalisation.

Although, George is doing much better, doctors are ordering mandatory recovery time forcing all tour dates through May 20th, including the entire Canadian run to be postponed

The veteran Singer was admitted to a medical facility in Nashville, Tennessee on 29 March (12) and kept under the care of doctors until 3 April(12) as he struggled with an upper respiratory infection.

He called off a number of shows to recover and had been expected to getback on stage on Saturday (28Apr12) for a gig in Caruthersville, Missouri, but he has now axed the concert as well as his entire May (12) tour ofCanada.

A statement posted on the 80 year old's website reads, "Country music Hall of Fame member George Jones is recuperating from upper respiratory infection and continues to rest at his Franklin, Tennessee Home. "Although, George is doing much better, doctors are ordering mandatory recovery time forcing all tour dates through May 20th, including the entire Canadian run to be postponed".
