George Michael Wants Fresh Start

George Michael is looking forward to a fresh start following his release from jail on Monday (11Oct10).
 
The former Wham! singer walked free from Highpoint Prison in Suffolk, England after serving 27 days of an eight-week sentence for possession of marijuana and driving under the influence of drugs, stemming from an incident in July (10).
 
Speaking to reporters outside his London home on Monday afternoon, Michael said, "I just want to say thank you for everybody who has supported me in there.
 
"I'm coming out here on my own so that you'll realise I just want to start again."
 
Michael also vowed to "stop running away" from the press in the future as he tries to rebuild his life, and his career comeback is already back on track - the singer admitted regaining his freedom had given him inspiration for a new tune.
 
He added, "I just thought of a really good idea for a song. It's going to be nothing to do with prison."
