Geri Halliwell: I Made Cheryl Cole

Err, hello, but is anyone else completely baffled as to why the hell Geri Halliwell reckons that Cheryl Cole's booming career, as a TV star as well as a Girl Aloud, is all down to her?

CMU Daily has revealed that as shocking as this may be, it was in fact Geri who first spotted Chez’s talents back in the Popstars: The Rivals days, back when she was considered music-worthy enough to be a judge.

Ironic then, that Miss Cole is now a judge on the Popstar equivalent, which Halliwell is off practising yoga or tottering around with her dog in a handbag somewhere. She still has time to chat with the Daily Mail though, telling them; "I'm so proud of Cheryl Cole. I really fought hard to put her through. I love that I opened that little window of opportunity for her and now she's run with it".

Erm, right Geri. Luckily Cheryl isn’t quite as starstruck by Geri as Geri might hope, even taking a pop at old Ginger Spice after being compared to the British group; "We've [Girl Aloud] been around for six years - they were around for 18 months. We recognise what the Spice Girls did, but it really annoys me when you meet girls who go, 'We wannabe the next Spice Girls'".
