Harry Connick, JR. is happy he spoke out against a controversial Australian TV talent show skit - insisting his outburst was "appropriate".

The singer was left dumbfounded when he was expected to judge the Jackson Jive - an act consisting of six white men who painted their faces black and performed behind a white-faced Michael Jackson impersonator.

Connick, Jr. made his disgust known to the host of Australia's Hey Hey It's Saturday, insisting he "definitely wouldn't have done" the show if he had known about the act's content.

Following the event, he pulled out of an autograph session at a Sydney mall after several Australians deemed his behavior too politically correct.

But the star is convinced he behaved in an honourable manner by defending what he believed in.

He says, "I'm pleased with the way I handled the situation. I handled it in exactly the manner I thought was appropriate".
