Jack Johnson Named Earth Day's Top Green Rocker....

To mark Earth Day (22Apr08), Billboard magazine editors have crowned surf-rocker Jack Johnson the most environmentally-sound person in music.In an online Music Goes Green special, Johnson has beaten Willie Nelson and Mexican band Mana to the title of greenest musician.Billboard bosses cite the mellow singer/songwriter's efforts to be as environmentally-conscious as possible in his recording and touring ventures.

They note that the Los Angeles headquarters of Johnson's Brushfire Records is "a cozy single-family home", which features a recording studio insulated with used denim and "powered in part by solar panels located on the roof".Johnson also works tirelessly for non-profit charity the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, which supports environmental education in his native Hawaii.
