KERR BLAMES DIVORCES ON CONSTANT TOURING: Scottish rocker JIM KERR blames his rock 'n' roll lifestyle for the failure of
his marriages to CHRISSIE HYNDE and PATSY KENSIT.
While the DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME singer used to enjoy his freedom from
family duties when he touring with SIMPLE MINDS, he was surprised when his
relationships ended in divorce as he believed his famous spouses would have a
greater understanding of his lifestyle.
Kerr, 46, says, "The reason we toured so much was probably because of the
escapist feel it had. It was like having a 'get out of jail card' every day
because we didn't want to have to deal with daily responsibilities.
Patsy Kensit divorce because Kerr always away
"The first time, I was very young and hardly knew myself, let alone the person I married. I was 23 and Chrissie was 30 and I was bowled over by this incredible woman who had already done so much. "I was a lot more mature when I married Patsy, who was 24, but again, we did it too quickly. I thought because the women I married were in the business, they knew what they were getting themselves into. "There is that element of when you are in a band and get a record deal, you are in a candy store when it comes to women. I joined a band to get laid, and I did. And who wouldn't marry the famous rock star or the darling actress of the day?"
