The airline employee who forced Joel Madden to cover up his tattoos has been disciplined by his bosses, who are furious about the bad publicity the stunt has caused.
Madden was outraged when a British Airways employee refused to allow him to board a flight from Chicago to London on Monday (27 Apr 09), until he hid his body art from other passengers.
The Good Charlotte rocker posted a message online from the plane, expressing his outrage.
We don't understand why the employee took it upon himself to enforce regulations that don't exist
He wrote on Twitter.com, "Was just told by a british air (sic) person I can't get on the plane till I cover my tatts. "I really actually am in shock".
And BA bosses are equally baffled - because there's nothing in the rulebook about tattoos. Confirming the unnamed employee is being reprimanded, a spokesperson tells Tmz, "We don't understand why the employee took it upon himself to enforce regulations that don't exist".
