John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono is to auction off 67 unique pieces of artwork to raise funds for an autism charity.

The Japanese artist and singer unveiled a seven-foot (two metre) tall mural made up of 67 jigsaw-like pieces on Friday (03Apr09), specially commissioned to mark World Autism Awareness Day (02Ap09).

Each of the pieces will be auctioned with starting bids of $1,000 (£700) - with all the money raised going to the charity Autism Speaks.

She says, "When I was first approached to create an artwork for autism awareness I was shocked by the worldwide prevalence of this serious situation, especially among our children.
