Mayer Goes to Battle And Wins the Album Chart War

John Mayer has a very special reason to celebrate this Thanksgiving Day weekend - he has marched to the top of the album charts with his Battle Studies.

The singersongwriter has claimed his second number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 286,000 opening-week sales.

He's also enjoying success around the world - Battle Studies has earnedMayer his highest debut in the Australian charts and a number one in Holland.

Battle Studies is one of four new entries in the new top five - Norah Jones' The Fall debuts at three, Until The Whole World Hears by Casting Crowns rockets to four and rapper 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct starts at five.

Also new to the top 10 is 15-year-old Justin Bieber's My World at six.

Dave Grohl's supergroup Them Crooked Vultures debut their first self-titled release at 12.

And Italian opera star Andrea Bocelli leads the holiday albums with My Christmas, which scores a 185,000 sales week to stay at number two.

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle is expected to charge to the topof the charts next week (02Dec09) after breaking Amazon.com pre-order records.

Chart experts predict her I Dreamed a Dream album could replace Eminem's Relapse as the year's top-selling debut.
