Mayer Tweeted Too Much for Aniston

John Mayer fears his love of Twitter.com cost him a romance with private Jennifer Aniston.

The rocker has confessed that his ex found his love of blogging, social networking and modern technology a "courting distraction" - and that may have led to her walking away.

The couple dated last year (09) and became a huge tabloid target - and Mayer admits the way he dealt with the media didn't help matters.

He tells Playboy magazine, "One of the most significant differences between us was that I was tweeting. There was a rumour I was dumped because I was tweeting too much. That wasn't it.

"The brunt of her success came before (showbiz news website) Tmz and Twitter. I think she's still hoping it goes back to 1998.

"She saw my involvement in technology as courting distraction, and I always said, 'These are the new rules.'"
