John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Mandy Moore and Denise Richards are among the stars who have taken to Twitter.com to pay tribute to the U.S. military on America's Memorial Day.

A slew of celebrities chose to mark Monday's (28May12) bank holiday by saluting the men and women who have fought and sacrificed to preserve thecountry's freedom and they shared their thoughts and feelings with fans online.

Former E.R. star Stamos writes, "My heart goes out to the fine woman (sic) and men in our military - past and present. (and their families) thank you for our freedom. peace", while comedian Harris tweets, "A heartfeltthank you to all of the men and women who serve(d) in our military. Whatyou did, and continue to do, is awesome".

Singeractress Moore expresses her "gratitude" and "pride" for the troops as former Bond girl Richards remembers "the brave men and women who-ve lost their lives serving our country".

Meanwhile, country singer Martina McBride adds, "So grateful for our military men and women, past and present,and their families,for the sacrifices they make so I can live free.Much love 2u (sic)", and veteran newscaster Larry King writes, "Today is the most important holiday. It causes usto reflect about the horror of war. You can never do enough for those who have served".

Others who marked Memorial Day with fitting tributes to the military include Kings of Leon rocker Nathan Followill, True Grit's teen star HaileeSteinfeld, rapper Pitbull, director Jon Favreau and country star Keith Urban.
