LOCALS WANT TO SHUT DOWN COSTELLO CONCERTSA series of London concerts starring ELVIS COSTELLO, KATIE MELUA and
WILL YOUNG are being targetted by local campaigners, who want the events
cancelled on traffic and noise pollution grounds.OLIVER'S ARMY star Costello will play the first of 10 outdoor concerts - billed
as 'Music On A Summer Evening' - on 2 July (05) at Kenwood House on
Hampstead Heath, situated in one of the capital's most exclusive areas. But some locals fear the shows will be too loud and will swamp the district with
traffic.BRENDAN NOLAN, spokesman for the nearby HIGHGATE SOCIETY, says,
"They used to have symphony concerts at Kenwood in summer but that has
disappeared since the programme was taken in 2000."The case will be heard when officials at London's Camden Council decide
whether or not to provide a public entertainment licence on 6 June (05).
