Lauryn Hill's record deal is "inactive" - after her label boss concedes she will never have an album as successful as her former group The Fugees.The hip-hop star hasn't released a solo album since 2002's Mtv Unplugged No.2.0 - and Columbia Records senior manager Kyambo 'hip Hop' Joshua admits he doesn't know when the follow-up will be.

He says, "Her deal is borderline inactive, though I'm sure they want to do an album. But when you sign an act in another era, with a deal based on the act being a superstar, things can change (years later)."These days, even if you do great numbers, they will likely not be Fugees numbers. So, I have to see what direction she and her people would like to take and what they'd like to do."The Fugees split in 1997 - but briefly got back together in 2004.
