MOBO's Lemar Scoops Double Award

LEMAR SCOOPS DOUBLE MOBO WINBritish soul sensation LEMAR was the big winner at last night's (22SEP05) Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards in London.The IF THERE'S ANY JUSTICE singer won the Best Album prize and was named Best UK Act Of The Year - but he narrowly missed a trio of awards when US star JOHN LEGEND scooped the Best R&B Act award. Rap heavyweights 50 CENT and THE GAME left empty-handed when they were beaten to the Best Hip-Hop Act gong by unsigned London rapper SWAY in a shock decision at the awards ceremony decided by public votes. Jamaican star DAMIAN MARLEY - who performed alongside his brother STEPHEN at the star-studded event - was named Best Reggae Act, and the WELCOME TO JAMROCK singer also collected the Posthumous Achievement Award on behalf of his late father BOB MARLEY. The second special award went to outspoken rap group PUBLIC ENEMY, who were honoured with the Outstanding Contribution To Black Music award.American rapper SNOOP DOGG picked up the Best Video gong for his DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT collaboration with PHARRELL WILLIAMS.   • Best Video: SNOOP DOGG FT PHARRELL - DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT
  • Best World Music Act: DADDY YANKEE
  • UK Act Of The Year: LEMAR
  • Best African Act: YOUSSOU N'DOUR
  • Posthumous Achievement Award: BOB MARLEY
  • Outstanding Contribution To Black Music: PUBLIC ENEMY.
