Richie Happy to Grow Old

Lionel Richie isn't worried about turning 60 later this month (Jun09) - he insists he's having the time of his life.

The Commodores legend has sold more than 100 million records worldwide in a career spanning 40 years.

And despite becoming a grandfather last year (08) when his adopted daughter Nicole Richie gave birth to baby Harlow, Richie is adamant he loves growing old.

And Richie has simple plans for his upcoming 60th birthday on June 20 I've decided that I'm going to take my favorite place - which is my backyard

He says, "I'm enjoying my life more now, better than any part of my entire history - for all sorts of reasons. I think I know what I'm doing now... You know it's a wonderful time right now, I'm just enjoying the ride".

And Richie has simple plans for his upcoming 60th birthday on June 20 "I've decided that I'm going to take my favorite place - which is my backyard. I've built an amazing place where we can sit by the pool and actually just entertain my friends I've known for years and spend time with them.

"We'll have a series of dinners and I'm just going to sit around and enjoy my friends and family, because that's really what the celebration is".
