Lynyrd Skynyrd Singer White Loses Cancer Battle

Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd have lost another family member - former singer Deborah Jo White has lost her battle with cancer.

The 58 year old, who performed as Jo Jo Billingsley, passed away on Thursday (24Jun10) at her home in Alabama.

She toured with the band as one of backing singers the Honkettes for three years in the mid-1970s before leaving the Sweet Home Alabama hitmakers.

Lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and several others were killed in a plane crash months after she quit the band in 1977.

After leaving rock music, White became a minister, but she rejoined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2006 when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
