LEMAR AND LEGEND LEAD MOBO NOMINATIONS
Soul star JOHN LEGEND and British pop singer LEMAR lead the nominations at this
year's (05) Music Of Black Origin Awards (MOBOs).
Lemar, who leapt to fame after appearing in TV talent show FAME ACADEMY, is
leading the field with five nods, including Best Album for TIME TO GROW and
Best Single for IF THERE'S ANY JUSTICE, while Ohio-native Legend is fighting
for Best Album with GET LIFTED, Best Video for ORDINARY PEOPLE and Best R&B
Act.
MARIAH CAREY was been nominated for Best R&B Act and Best Album for THE
EMANCIPATION OF MIMI, with her rapper pal SNOOP DOGG also up in two categories
- Best Single and Best Video for DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT.
Other nominees include YOUSSOU N'DOUR, LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO, 50 CENT, THE
GAME, CIARA, SEAN PAUL and JAMIROQUAI.
The winners will be announced at a star-studded ceremony in London's Royal
Albert Hall on 22 September (05).
