Singeractress Mandy Mooreis urging young women to undergo regular medical check-ups to reduce the risk of developing cervical cancer.

The star is raising awareness about the disease for the U.S. Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, encouraging the most at-risk females, aged between 19 and 25, to be more pro-active about their personal health and have annual smear tests.

As young women, we should feel empowered to take care of our cervical health

She says, "There's a lot I didn't know about cervical cancer and how toprotect my cervical health, which inspired me to take action and rally other young women to join the cause. "As young women, we should feel empowered to take care of our cervical health.

Women shouldn't have to suffer from cervical cancer when there are things we can do to prevent this disease".
