Election Special Jay-Z, Blige T.I, DiCaprio & Diddy On Obama,....

Mary J. Blige and Sean 'Diddy' Combs have made a last ditch attempt to back U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama with an open letter to the nation's voters. The trio - joined by former Def Jam president Kevin Liles - signed the letter one week before the nation votes for its next president, and although Obama is heading the early polls, the hip-hop heavyweights do not want voters to become complacent. The letter reads, "There is still so much work to be done. The thrill of victory is just one week away. We hear it in the streets, we feel it in our hearts and it's burning in our souls."Together, we have successfully registered the most young voters in the history of the modern political process. We called a State Of Emergency on October 3rd at 6:00AM and our culture stood up and recognized the importance of registering millions of voters."The election takes place on 4 November (08).Meanwhile in other election news convicted felon T.I. has been deemed eligible to exercise his vote in the upcoming U.S. election - after finding a loophole in Georgia law.The Whatever You Like hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris Jr., is facing a one year prison sentence in March next year (09) after pleading guilty to illegal possession of three machine guns and two silencers following his 2007 arrest. The star assumed his current legal status meant he was ineligible to vote in the presidential elections next week (04Nov08), so was surprised to learn that unless he was serving probation or a prison sentence, he was still able to perform his civic duty.

And the rapper, who has been encouraging youths to go out and vote, took advantage of the rule on Wednesday (29Oct08) morning when he rushed out to a polling station in Atlanta to register his first ever vote.

Brandishing a sticker reading 'I'm a Georgia Voter', he says, "It's a relief.

This what it is all about, not staying up late and waking up early to vote. Now rather than just talking about it, I'm being about it. I'm leading by example, and it makes me feel a lot better."

And his lawyer Steve Sadow insists T.I. is fully entitled to vote.

He adds, "Until he is sentenced in the federal case, he doesn't have a conviction yet. Even though he is a convicted felon, he has a right to vote since he is not serving probation and hasn't started his prison sentence."

T.I. has previously served time for firearms, drug and assault offences.

Leonardo DiCaprio has gathered a host of huge stars including Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Justin Timberlake, Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg to star in a new public service announcement urging Americans to go to the polls next week (4Nov08).

DiCaprio produced and appears in the ad, which shows Hollywood's finest contemplating Spielberg's request that they "don't vote" in Tuesday's presidential election - his attempt at reverse psychology.

Roberts complains the request "doesn't make sense"; while Timberlake replies, "I can do anything. I was in a boy band, OK?"

Ford tells Spielberg, "You know what? I can't do it. It's not true, I don't believe it - 537 people decided the 2000 election, and you want me to tell people that one vote doesn't count?"

The Psa also stars Ryan Reynolds and his wife Scarlett Johansson; Will Smith, Cameron Diaz, Shia LaBeouf, Snoop Dogg, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Zach Braff and Sacha Baron Cohen as his alter ego, Borat.
