Michael Jackson ended his life mentoring the son of the soul icon who mentored him - he was working on Evan Ross' breakthrough album.

Just two hours before Jackson's death on Thursday (25Jun09), Diana Ross' son sat down with Wenn to discuss his upcoming movie Life Is Hot In Cracktown - but talk quickly turned to his music career.

The 20 year old admitted he was keen to complete upcoming movie projects so he could finish an album he was working on - and revealed he was working with the pop superstar and his mum.

He says, "I'm more focused on acting right now. The music will come. I just don't want to push it. I'm writing with a lot of different people like Michael (Jackson) on this. It's R&B mixed with a Prince urban vibe. "I don't want it to be tampered with by the people in the business.

I'm writing a film with Tony right now as well

I just want to be able to do my thing and when I feel ready to put it out there I will.

My mum is putting out a new CD so I've been out in New York recording with her and writing with her.

We're doing music together which is fun because we've never recorded together before". The enterprising young star is also working on a new film project with controversial American History X filmmaker Tony Kaye.

Ross tells FemaleFirst, "I have Black Water Transit coming out with Laurence Fishburne and Brittany Snow, directed by Tony Kaye.  I'm writing a film with Tony right now as well".

Meanwhile Diana Ross is failing to comprehend the death of her longterm friend Michael Jackson - insisting her heart is aching with grief.

The singer had been close pals with Jackson ever since she introduced his family group The Jackson 5 to prominence in the 1960s.

The group went on to enjoy runaway worldwide success and Ross kept in touch with former Motown labelmate Jackson when he went solo in the 1970s. The pair also starred together in 1978 musical movie The Wiz.

Now Ross is in mourning following the King of Pop's unexpected death on Thursday (25Jun09) - and is struggling to cope with the heartbreaking news.

She says, "I can't stop crying. This is too sudden and shocking. I am unable to imagine this. My heart is hurting. I am in prayer for his kids and the family."
