David Gest has accused bosses of a Los Angeles auction house of "running scared" in an ongoing legal wrangle over Michael Jackson memorabilia.
Gest is suing Julien's Auctions for more than $1 million (£625,000) in damages after the company offered up 21 Jackson family items, telling clients they were from Gest's personal collection.
Bosses of the auction house are adamant they would not use Gest's name unless they had to, because he has reportedly been involved in domestic abuse (and) sued his wealthy ex-wife (Liza Minnelli) for $10 million
The music mogul insists he had no knowledge of the sale in Las Vegas, which took place just days after the King of Pop's death in June (09), andthat many of the items were nothing to do with him.
Bosses of the auction house are adamant they would not use Gest's name unless they had to, because he has "reportedly been involved in domestic abuse (and) sued his wealthy ex-wife (Liza Minnelli) for $10 million".
But Gest has hit back, accusing the company of mud-slinging with publicstatements about his messy marriage split.
He tells Wenn, "Why all of a sudden are they running scared bringing upLiza Minnelli when they didn't even think it would hurt to put my name to many of the items in their Michael Jackson catalogue that I never even owned? I look forward to our day in court when the jury will decide if they are, as their lawyer's statement suggests, 'good honest folks' or if they have just ripped off the public by lying".
