The Welsh rocker and Bullet for My Valentine star checked into a medical facility on Tuesday to undergo the operation to treat an undisclosed ailment.
The musicians posted a picture of the star lying in a hospital bed on their Twitter.com page, but haven't given any more details about his condition.
A message posted on the site reads, "Today Padge (sic) went in to hospital for some back surgery and sent this pic to say hi. He's doing great".
