Dance music star Moby refuses to take regular medication for his insomnia- because he has heard too many horror stories about people becoming addicted to sleeping pills.

The globe-trotting DJ regularly jets across the U.S. and over to Europefor gigs, and finds himself struggling to fall asleep after shows.

The Porcelain hitmaker's insomnia is so bad he often hallucinates through lack of sleep - but he is adamant he won't turn to medication to solvehis restlessness.

At first it's awful and then about eight o'clock in the morning you think, 'Maybe I'll fall asleep', and, at some point, you give up

He says, "It's hard. There's that trajectory of insomnia. At first it's awful and then about eight o'clock in the morning you think, 'Maybe I'll fall asleep', and, at some point, you give up.

"And then, if you have insomnia for a while, you start hallucinating - you start seeing rats on the floor. It's kind of like a bad drug experience without the drugs.

"I do occasionally (take sleeping pills) but there's this long history of travelling musicians and public figures getting addicted to prescription drugs, so I think I've seen too many horror stories and try hard to stay away from pharmaceuticals".
