Folk rockers Mumford and Sons have matched a Beatles record in the U.S. by becoming the first band since the Fab Four to land six hits in the Billboard Hot 100 pop charts.

The British four-piece's new album Babel debuted at the top of the Billboard album charts on Wednesday (03Oct12) with the year's biggest first-week sales to date, and now the band is making history on the singles countdown.

Five debuts have joined I Will Wait on the chart, matching a feat the Beatles scored almost 50 years ago.

The other Mumford and Sons tunes making the chart this week are title track Babel, Lover's Eyes, Whispers in the Dark, Holland Road and Ghosts That We Knew.
