The fire that destroyed personal memorabilia belonging to Neil Young started in one of his prized vintage cars.
The veteran rocker lost a number of items earlier this month (Nov10) when a warehouse in San Francisco Bay, California went up in flames.
Young stored a collection of paintings and musical instruments in the space, along with six classic cars.
Staff members were able to salvage 70 per cent of the items.
But it was his 1959 Lincoln Continental that sparked the blaze, according to Belmont-San Carlos Fire Marshal Jim Palisi.
He claims the singer had had the vehicle converted into a hybrid as part of his LincVolt project to create the world's most efficient full-sizedcar, according to local newspaper, the San Mateo County Times.
Experts are now looking at the Continental's computer in a bid to find the cause of the fault.
