Nelly Furtado's Daughter Inspired Album Sound

Nelly Furtado changed the sound of her latest album Mi Plan after her daughter complained the songs weren't upbeat enough.

The Maneater hitmaker recorded her fourth disc in Spanish after experiencing writers' block, but it was her child who played a big part in altering the sound further.

She's like a little A&R (artists and repertoire) person and is pretty musical for her age

After Furtado played the finished track selection to five-year-old Nevis, she convinced her to go back into the studio to place a few faster songs on the album.

The singer says, "I played the album to my daughter and she said to me: 'Mummy there are too many slow songs. You need more fast songs.' So Mummy went back to the studio and put a couple more fast songs on the album. She's like a little A&R (artists and repertoire) person and is pretty musical for her age."
