Sick Nelly Cancels Troops Meeting

Nelly cancelled a meeting with U.S. troops on Friday (09Dec11) after falling sick with a bout of influenza.

The hip-hop star was due to meet soldiers and their families at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson military facility in Anchorage, Alaska, but he pulled out of the appearance due to ill health.

He allegedly failed to call in to give warning of the cancellation, leaving many of the troops waiting, and the star subsequently apologized forhis absence in a post on his Twitter.com page.

Nelly writes, "My temp (temperature) said 102 (and) I threw up everything I ate for the past week!

"I'm sorry I luv (sic) n (and) will always support!! Salute... I apologize 2 (sic) all the troops and fans 2 day n (today in) Anchorage!

"Been fighting off flu 4 (for) few days n (and) it caught up 2 (sic) me!"
