Party In The Paddock
Today - Newbury Racecourse, one of the UK’s best loved racecourses for over 120 years, announces the line up for the 4th annual Party in the Paddock season, a premium event for both music lovers and racegoers, providing the perfect fusion of live music and racing.
Taking to the stage for the first time at Newbury, Brit boy band The Wanted are set to kick start the 2011 Party in the Paddock concert season on the evening of Saturday 21st May 2011. Followed by a début performance from the voice of the valleys vocalist Tom Jones, for the annual Ladies Day on Saturday 13th August.
The two open air concerts will take place in the 360 acre grounds as part of Newbury Racecourse’s campaign to make racing more accessible for a whole new group of racing enthusiasts and continue to grow in popularity often doubling the number of spectators that would attend a race day. Last August, Westlife played to a modern day record crowd at Newbury Racecourse of 30,000 at the racecourse’s summer highlight Ladies Day featuring Party in the Paddock.
Stephen Higgins, Joint Managing Director Newbury Racecourse commented “Party in the Paddock has proven to be a hugely successful combination of horseracing and great music and we are delighted to be welcoming a really strong line up including greats like Tom Jones and popular boyband The WANTED. With these acts, as well as the stand alone Newbury LIVE concert with Rod Stewart on 29 May, Newbury Racecourse will offer something for everyone’s taste this summer from quality sport to world class music acts.”
The Wanted – Evening of 21st May 2011
The Wanted whose band members, Tom, Siva, Max, Jay and Nathan shot to fame with their first single All time Low going straight to number one, will perform ‘All time Low’ as well as other hits including, ‘Heart Vacancy’ and ‘Lose My Mind’ at the Berkshire track live after racing.
Gloucester-born band member Nathan Sykes commented, “We can’t wait to play at Newbury Racecourse this May. It sounds loads of fun and something a bit different, performing after an evening at the races.”
Tom Jones – 13th August 2011
