Nick Lachey has helped to break a new Guinness World Record to raise money for charity by taking part in an American football game.

The former 98 Degrees star was joined by football legends Jim Kelly and Rodney Peete, who kicked off a college game in New York City's Times Square on Friday.

Fans joined the stars to break the record for the most amount of people to kick successful goals in six hours - 181 were made in total during the time period.

Bosses at corn chip brand Tostitos donated £125,000 as part of the event to Big Brothers Big Sisters - a one-to-one mentoring programme for youths across the world.

Lachey has supported the cause by being a 'Big Brother' to one youth in Los Angeles for the last eight years.
