Nickelback were forced to cancel a gig in Toronto, Canada on Sunday (09Aug09) after a freak thunderstorm hit the city.

The rockers were scheduled to headline the Molson Amphitheatre in the evening and were proceeded by a number of acts, including Saving Abel, Papa Roach and Hinder.

During the course of the day, the weather worsened - and by the time the support slots were over and the crew were setting up the stage for the band at 8.30 pm (local time), lightning was striking nearby.

Severe weather warning we ask that you evacuate the lawns

Organisers delayed Nickelback's start time to make the site safer - while videos screens, swaying from the high winds and rain, displayed the message "Severe weather warning we ask that you evacuate the lawns".

It was announced at 10pm that Nickelback would not be performing - but gig-goers have been told to hold on to their tickets as the concert is set to be rescheduled.
