The BBC Electric Proms today announced Britains greatest rock n roll band Oasis as the final headliner to complete this years festival bill. The world-renowned band will draw the event to a close when they take to the stage at the Roundhouse in London on Sunday 26th October following five days of music in both London and Liverpool.Oasis are set to treat music fans to a very special performance at the festival and will be accompanied by the Crouch End Festival Chorus. This marks yet another hallmark in the bands outstanding career to date, and talking about the show Noel Gallagher commented, We are doing the Electric Proms, and we're doing it with the Crouch End Choir as well... there's 50 odd of them...because some of the songs on the album have got a 50 piece choir on them. So we're gonna do a night at the Proms with that lot, it should be good actually
Ennio Morricone uses them for his spaghetti western stuff in England, so Im already looking forward to that because Ive never played the Roundhouse and Ive never done the Proms.Festival Director Lorna Clarke added, The closing night of the BBC Electric Proms has seen some legendary music acts take to the stage, including Ray Davies and The Who. Oasis are the perfect choice to close this years event and bring a massive performance to an iconic and intimate London music venue.Taking place in two cities for the first time in the events three year history, both London and Liverpool will host the festival from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th October 2008. Over 60 acts will perform at the event, which is bigger than ever before.Glasvegas have also been confirmed as support for the Oasis performance. Todays announcement sees Oasis join a range of artists already confirmed to perform from Burt Bacharach to Razorlight, Chaka Khan to The Streets and The Last Shadow Puppets to Nitin Sawhney.
Tickets for Oasis will go on sale at 8:15am on Tuesday 30th September from www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms. All other tickets are already on sale.
