Oasis - Yoko Ono, and the violence at their Murrayfield Stadium gig
Oasis
Liam Gallagher found himself lost for words when he met up with his idol John Lennons widow Yoko Ono - and just stared out of her apartment window.
The Oasis frontman is a huge follower of the late Beatles legend, and even thought about moving into the New York apartment block where Lennon was shot dead in 1980.
Gallagher plucked up the courage to visit Lennon's last love Ono at her own Big Apple apartment - but seemingly struggled to find anything to talk about.
Ono explains, "Our meeting was really very interesting. We didn't chat so much though. Instead we were just looking out of the window, because my apartment has beautiful views of the park."
There were two women stewards, they were trying to protect him but they weren't pulling the guys off him
Meanwhile in other related news Oasis's highly-anticipated concert in Scotland descended into violence on Wednesday (17Jun09) - ending in eight arrests and a man needing medical attention after he was viciously beaten by a group of thugs.
The Wonderwall hitmakers put on a sold-out show at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, attracting almost 70,000 people.
But even before the rockers stepped onstage, trouble began brewing between locals and fans from rival city Glasgow, escalating into alcohol-fuelled fights between members of the crowd.
One fan was beaten by five other men as support act Kasabian performed, and had to be carried away on a stretcher once fellow revellers managed to split up the scuffle.
Audience members have slammed the event's security personnel, claiming stewards watched on as violence erupted all over the stadium.
One fan says, "There were two women stewards, they were trying to protect him but they weren't pulling the guys off him. It took about four or five minutes before the rest of the stewards arrived, but it was members of the crowd that broke the fight up.
"I think he might have been unconscious, though he was conscious when he was taken away on a stretcher after about 10 minutes of lying on the floor.
"The main culprit who was putting the boot in just walked away - it's a disgrace".
A police spokesperson confirmed there were eight arrests and two reports of assault at the concert.
